The Year of Faith began on 11 October, 2012, the fifteenth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and it will end on the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King on 24 November, 2013.
The starting date of 11 October, 2012 also marks the twentieth anniversary of the publication of theCatechism of the Catholic Church, a text promulgated by Blessed John Paul II, with a view to illustrating for all the faithful the power and beauty of the faith.
Bishop Hebda has asked that a series of sessions on the Catechism of the Catholic Church take place in the vicariates during the year of faith. To that end a 14 part series, Catechism of the Catholic Church...Hidden Treasure, is being planned and will explore the four pillars of the Catechism so that we can "further our knowledge of the faith, reinvigorate it, purify it, and confess it". (Paul VI, Apostolic Exhotation Petrum et Paulum Apostolos).
